Advisory: Idaho 511 Traveler Services

Weather forecasts indicate a possibility of significant snow accumulations this evening at the higher elevations of Idaho and the possibility of lesser accumulations at lower levels winter driving conditions, nonetheless.

As you report on weather and highway conditions would you please remind motorists to take advantage of 511 Idaho Traveler Services before they make travel plans? That is especially appropriate when you discuss conditions during weather reports.
Please feel free to use the 511 logo on your weather forecasts and include a link to 511.idaho.gov on your Web site as a convenience for the public. (I will be happy to send a high-resolution 511 logo by e-mail. Please contact me if you would like one: mel.coulter@itd.idaho.gov .) Encouraging viewers and readers to visit your respective news Web site and click on the 511 Traveler Services link will generate additional traffic to your site, which in turn, is a strong incentive for advertisers and advertising revenue.
Most important, it helps motorists make informed travel decisions and helps them prepare for safer winter travel on our highways.
The most current information about highway conditions and closures will be on the Web at 511.idaho.gov or on the automated telephone system Dial 511. Please encourage drivers to use the phone system only when it is safe to do so and to avoid calling while driving. Have someone else in the car make the call.
