Idaho Airstrip Network Action Plan available for public review

BOISE - The draft Idaho Airstrip Network Action Plan is available for public review and comment through April 22, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The draft plan is the result of regional workshops held last fall in McCall, Salmon and Worley. The workshops gathered transportation officials, pilots, forest managers, outfitters and other stakeholders to discuss the future of recreational airstrips.

This plan outlines strategies and actions designed to guide backcountry airport use, management, maintenance and improvement into the future, says Mark Young, ITD Division of Aeronautics. Its focus isnt necessarily on the current status of our system of backcountry airstrips, but rather where users would like the system of airstrips to be in the year 2034.

The Idaho Airstrip Network Action Plan is available online at itd.idaho.gov/aero, through the Idaho Airstrip Network link. It is available in hard copy at the following airports:

  • Boise Airport

  • Pocatello Regional Airport
  • Idaho Falls Regional Airport
  • Friedman Memorial Airport (Hailey)
