Weight and speed limit restrictions to be placed on U.S. 2 beginning Monday (March 3)
COEUR d'ALENE - U.S. 2 in Bonner County will have speed and weight restrictions in place beginning Monday (March 3), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The highway is beginning to show stress from a severe freeze/thaw cycle in recent weeks.

Restrictions on U.S. 2 will be from the Dover Bridge to Boyer Avenue in Sandpoint (mileposts 24.7 - 28.33). The weight restriction is 14,000 pounds per axle, and the speed limit is reduced to 30 mph.

Weight restrictions of 14,000 pounds per axle and speed restrictions of 30 mph also are in place on the following state highways in northern Idaho:

-  Idaho 57, from Priest River to Nordman (mileposts 0.0 - 37.23)

-  Idaho 200, from the junction of U.S. 95 to the Montana State Line (mileposts 30.0 - 63.11)

Idaho 3, from the St. Joe River Road at St. Maries to Interstate 90 (mileposts 84.5 - 117.68) has a reduced speed limit of 30 mph.

The restrictions will be in place until further notice.

Weight and speed limit restrictions do not apply to emergency vehicles and school buses.
