Motorists can expect morning lane restriction on I-84 eastbound near Exit 29 (Franklin Interchange)
BOISE - The right lane of eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 29 (the Franklin Interchange) will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, March 14), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
The closure is necessary so that crews can add 60 feet of concrete guardrail and move sand barrels.
The closure affects I-84 from milepost 28.2 to 29.0.
The Franklin Interchange reconstruction began in December 2006 to improve access to Caldwell from I-84 and ease congestion. The project includes building a new Franklin Road Overpass with two through-lanes in each direction and dual left-turn lanes in each direction. Interstate 84 ramps will be lengthened and widened to two lanes where they intersect the overpass.
The project will widen Franklin Road from two to five lanes on both sides of the new overpass. The improved road will have a curb, gutter, sidewalk, bicycle lanes and shoulder. The rebuilding is on schedule to be finished in the fall of 2008.
