511 - Idaho's Traveler Information phone service experiencing technical problems
BOISE - Idaho's travel information phone service, 511, is having technical problems, the Idaho Transportation Department reports.
Approximately every fourth or fifth call to 511 is connecting to the Rhode Island 511 service rather than Idaho.
"It's a telecommunications mystery at this point," Jeff Stratten, public information officer for the transportation department said. "If you reach Rhode Island, hang up and call again."
Technicians from Qwest are investigating. The problem started Thursday morning. They hope to have the problem fixed before the weekend.
"We apologize for the inconvenience," Stratten said. "While many highways in Idaho are still snow covered, I understand the highways in Rhode Island are clear."
