Eastbound I-84 lane, ramp closures to begin Sunday (April 13) between Broadway and Eisenman interchanges
BOISE - A week of eastbound I-84 lane and ramp closures will begin Sunday (April 13) between the Broadway and Eisenman interchanges, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced. The closures are part of a 6.1-mile rehabilitation project that began last fall.

The I-84 Broadway to Eisenman project began in September 2007. At that time, crews rehabilitated the roadway and placed four inches of new asphalt pavement. This project will place the final two inches of pavement. When complete, the project is expected to extend the roadway surface life 20 to 30 years.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead for the following traffic changes. Dates are weather-dependent:

- I-84 will be reduced to one lane in both directions starting Sunday (April 13) between the Gowen and Eisenman interchanges.

- The eastbound I-84 on-ramp at Gowen Road will be closed from Sunday (April 13) through Friday (April 18).

- The eastbound I-84 off-ramp at Gowen Road will be closed Tuesday (April 15) and Thursday (April 17) during daytime hours only, after the morning commute.

- The eastbound I-84 off-ramp at Eisenman Road will be closed most of the week. The ramp will open temporarily on Tuesday (April 15) and Thursday (April 17) to accommodate closures at the Gowen Road eastbound off-ramp.

- Eastbound I-84 will be reduced to one lane between the Broadway and Gowen interchanges from 8 p.m. Friday (April 18) through 6 a.m. Monday (April 21).

- The eastbound I-84 on- and off-ramps at Broadway Avenue will close at 8 p.m. Friday (April 18) and re-open at 6 a.m. Monday (April 21).

This work will complete paving on eastbound I-84. ITD will finish paving westbound I-84 near the Broadway interchange laster this month.

Western Construction of Boise is the contractor on this $12 million overlay project.

The project is ahead of schedule.  If weather permits, ITD anticipates completion in May.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
