Construction on U.S. 93 north of Mackay to start Monday (May 12)
RIGBY - Construction on U.S. 93 north of Mackay will begin on Monday (May 12), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Crews will repave and seal-coat nine miles of U.S. 93 from Lone Cedar Creek Road to Doublespring Pass Road, mileposts 122 to 131.

During construction, motorists can expect 15‑minute delays. The highway will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing northbound and southbound traffic through the work zone. A width restriction of 12 feet will be in force for commercial vehicles. Access to public and private roads along the stretch of U.S. 93 will be maintained, and intersecting roads will remain open.

Crews will start at Lone Cedar Creek Road and proceed north, working on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The project is scheduled for completion in July.

ITD awarded H‑K Contractors Inc. of Idaho Falls the $1.5 million contract. ITD will administer the project using federal and state funds.

Drivers should anticipate unusual driving conditions, such as merging traffic, construction vehicles, flaggers, pilot cars and uneven surfaces. When completed, the nine‑mile stretch of U.S. 93 will offer a strengthened roadway and a smoother ride for motorists.

The Idaho State Police reminds motorists that fines double for moving violations in work zones. Information on highway construction projects in Idaho is available by dialing 5‑1‑1 or checking the Internet at 511.idaho.gov.
