Temporary closure of I-84 and intermittent ramp closures at Exit 211 start tonight

HEYBURN – Beginning at 6 p.m. tonight, Interstate 84 will close at Exit 211 so contractors can continue work on a new bridge. Drivers will need to use the on and off-ramps at Exit 211 to navigate around the closure. The interstate should reopen by 7 a.m. tomorrow.

Tomorrow, the I-84 on and off-ramps at Exit 211 in Heyburn will intermittently close to allow for roadway repaving on State Highway 24. Centennial Drive will also temporarily close.

The alternating intermittent ramp closures will last for six to eight hours while contractors lay the new pavement. Ramp closures will continue through Friday, May 15.

During the ramp closures, drivers can use the I-84 on and off-ramps at Exit 208 in Burley. To access Heyburn from Exit 208, drivers can use U.S. Highway 30 and State Highway 25.

Drivers should look for construction crews, slow down, and obey all posted signage.

Construction has been underway since 2024 to update the Heyburn and Burley interchanges to meet growing traffic demands and is anticipated to be completed in 2026.

The project is part of Gov. Little’s Leading Idaho initiative, which allows the Idaho Transportation Department to advance large projects that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho’s economy, and positively impact the Magic Valley and communities across the state for years to come.
