Full-day railroad crossing closure on McGuire Road set for Thursday
**UPDATE** This closure will not affect through traffic on State Highway 53.
HAUSER — On Thursday, BNSF Railroad will perform track maintenance at the McGuire Road railroad crossing adjacent to State Highway 53. The crossing will be closed to all traffic from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
While this closure isn’t part of ongoing construction of the Pleasant View Interchange by the Idaho Transportation Department, it will have significant impacts to traffic, especially for those who frequently use McGuire Road to avoid the temporary signal on Prairie Avenue at SH-53.
Later this month ITD will have a separate overnight closure on SH-53 to replace a culvert near Hollister Hills Road. Drivers will be detoured at Prairie Avenue and McGuire Road to get around the closure. Digital messaging boards will be posted along the roadway to alert travelers in advance with more specific information regarding both the date and the times of this closure.
The exact date for this work may be subject to change depending on the weather and the progress of construction in the coming weeks. Idaho 511 will also be updated, so drivers should use that system as the best source of information regarding traffic impacts, planned closures, and delays.
