Construction to begin on U.S. 20 between Mountain Home, Fairfield
SHOSHONE - Travelers preparing a trip to Idaho's central mountains should expect short roadwork delays if plans include U.S. 20 east from Mountain Home as construction is set to begin in that location Tuesday (May 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Work to perform a pavement overlay with installation of new guardrail between Cat Creek Summit (milepost 124) to the Elmore/Camas County line (milepost 136) will reduce traffic to one lane with a pilot car assisting motorists through the construction zone.
Work will be done during daylight hours. The road will be open to two-way traffic at night.
Travelers are urged to use caution in the construction zone. Watch for flaggers and stopped traffic. Delays of 15 minutes can be expected. The speed limit through the construction zone will be reduced to 55 mph.
The paving operation is being completed by Central Paving Company of Boise.
