Idaho 21, Gowen Road, Myrtle Street impacted by Boise Ironman Triathlon Sunday (June 1)
BOISE - Portions of Idaho 21, Gowen Road and Myrtle Street will be closed or restricted to traffic at different times on Sunday (June 1) for the Ironman 70.3 Boise Triathlon, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Idaho 21 - Eastbound lanes will be closed -- westbound lanes will remain open -- from Warm Springs up to Lucky Peak Dam. The closure is scheduled from 6-10 a.m., but the road could reopen earlier. It will only remain closed as long as the competitors are using the highway.  The biking portion ends at an exchange zone on Capitol Boulevard in Downtown Boise between Myrtle and Front streets.

Gowen Interchange  - Message boards will be used at the freeway exits to notify motorists of closures or restrictions, and flaggers will be on hand to hold traffic at Gowen and Federal Way. Flaggers also will maintain radio contact with emergency personnel and law enforcement during the event.

Myrtle Street - Message boards will be used at the River Street exit to directy motorists, and traffic will be diverted north or south at 9th, 11th and 13th streets.

The triathlon includes a 1.2-mile swim (Barclay Bay of Lucky Peak Reservoir), a 56-mile bicycle race, and ends with a 13.1-mile run along the Greenbelt, finishing downtown between Broad and Front streets.

Approximately 1,200-1,400 competitors are expected.
