Interstate 90 westbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 7 will be closed tonight (May 29) from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
COEUR D'ALENE - The westbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 7 on Interstate 90 will be closed for pavement work and repairs tonight (May 29) from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is part of a project to improve I-90 from the Washington state line through Coeur d'Alene.
Contractor crews will grind away the top portion of the existing ramp pavement using a rotomiller, and replace it with new pavement. Public convenience is a major factor in planning of interstate construction projects. Work on the project is being done at night to reduce potential impacts to the traveling public.
Motorists should plan on using an alternate route. Additional access to and from the freeway is located at the Seltice Boulevard and Spokane Street exits.
In addition to the new pavement, bridge decks will be repaired and remote sensor equipment will be replaced. The entire length of the project will be re-striped using Durastripe, a highly reflective, long-lasting polymer. It is more durable than the standard, water-based paint normally used for striping pavement surfaces.
The contractor for the $6 million project is Poe Asphalt and Paving of Post Falls. The project is expected to be completed by mid-July.
