U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow breakfast meeting Tuesday (March 8)

LEWISTON - A breakfast meeting to provide an update about the U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow project will be held Tuesday (March 8), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Project staff will discuss the latest developments on the project and answer questions. Idaho State Climatologist Dr. Russell Qualls, who is conducting a wintertime climate analysis in the project area, will be the featured speaker.

Qualls has established three automated weather stations in the project area and is measuring:

  • Precipitation intensity, accumulation and type (rain, snow, drizzle, etc.)
  • Air temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • Snow depth
  • Visibility distance
His data will help ITD determine if the climate is different at the three sites. One site is located within the eastern corridor, one is located within the western corridor and one is located in the southern end of the corridor near Reisenauer Hill.

The breakfast meeting will be at the Mark IV Restaurant, 414 N. Main St., in Moscow from 7 to 8 a.m. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at this time and location. This is the fourth breakfast meeting.

Coffee and light refreshment will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to order breakfast at their own expense.

The U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow Project, led by ITD, will determine, design and construct an alignment for nearly 6.5 miles of U.S. 95 in Latah County. This portion of the project will result in an Environmental Impact Statement.
