Resurfacing will close portion of Holmes Avenue, Lincoln-Anderson intersection
RIGBY - The final phase of a resurfacing project will require the closure of the U.S. 20 business loop (also known as Holmes Avenue) in Idaho Falls and the Lincoln-Anderson intersection Monday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The project, which began in the fall of 2007, included repaving the intersection and replacing the aging railroad crossing surface material.

As with the construction last fall, Holmes Avenue from Yellowstone Highway to U.S. 20 will be closed to north-south through traffic at the intersection of Lincoln and Anderson. East-west traffic on Lincoln-Anderson will be reduced to a single lane in both directions.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route around the work area. Access will be maintained to businesses on Holmes.

Traffic control will be will be placed early Monday before the morning commute. The work should be completed by the end of the day, and the route is expected to reopen Monday evening.

For information about other construction activity on state highways, visit the 511 Traveler Service Web site at 511.idaho.gov or dial 5-1-1 from within Idaho.
