Nighttime I-84 detour planned near Caldwell Franklin Interchange Thursday night (June 19)
BOISE - Eastbound Interstate 84 will be closed on Thursday night (June 19) as part of the Caldwell Franklin Interchange reconstruction project, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Eastbound I-84 will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday (June 19) to 5 a.m. on Friday (June 20) to allow crews to prepare for placement of the last portion of the bridge deck on the interchange.
Motorists will be detoured around the work area using the eastbound on-and-off ramps at the interchange. Flaggers will direct traffic during the closure.
The Franklin Interchange reconstruction project began in December 2006 to improve access to Caldwell from I-84 and ease congestion.
The project is on schedule to be finished next month. A dedication ceremony to celebrate the interchange is scheduled for July 8.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
