Eastbound I-84 off-ramp at Franklin Interchange to close Monday night (June 30) for final work
BOISE - The eastbound I-84 off-ramp at Exit 29, Franklin Interchange, will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday night (June 30) to 4 a.m. Tuesday morning (July 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The closure will allow the removal of the temporary concrete guardrail and to finish road striping.

Traffic using the eastbound off-ramp will be detoured to Exit 28 (10th Avenue) and back to Franklin Road.

Final Striping, signal work on Franklin Road will delay traffic on Monday (June 30)

BOISE - Motorists should expect delays in the Franklin Interchange area on Monday (June 30) while a new traffic signal and overpass lanes are prepared for opening that evening, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Traffic lights on the overpass will be turned off Monday while the new light is activated at the Aviation Way/Franklin Road intersection and lights are synchronized. Flaggers will direct traffic until all lights are operating.

On Franklin Road, crews will finish striping the overpass for two east- and westbound lanes with center turn lanes. One lane will be open in each direction until the new lanes are opened to traffic late Monday evening.

A new Aviation Way access will open at the Flying J truck stop on Monday. A message board will direct drivers to use Aviation Way for turning left onto Franklin Road. The new pattern will improve motorists' safety on Franklin Road.

The Franklin Interchange reconstruction project began in December 2006 to improve access to Caldwell from I-84 and ease congestion.

Concrete Placing Company, Boise, is the contractor for the $24.8 million interchange reconstruction project.

A dedication ceremony is scheduled for July 8 at 11 a.m. to celebrate the project completion.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
