I-90 westbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 7 will be closed Wednesday (July 2) from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
COEUR D'ALENE - The Interstate 90 westbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 7 (Idaho 41 Interchange) will be closed for paving operations Wednesday (July 2) from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work is part of a project to improve I-90 from the Idaho-Washington state line through Coeur d'Alene.

Contractors' crews have already completed paving operations on the interstate travel lanes, and are paving the interchange ramps between Coeur d'Alene and the state line. Public convenience is a major factor in planning interstate construction projects. Work on the project will take place at night to minimize impacts to travelers.

Traffic on the interstate will be reduced to one lane through the work zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Motorists should plan to use an alternate route. Additional access from the freeway is located at the Seltice Boulevard and Spokane Street exits.

In addition to the new pavement, the project includes bridge deck repairs and replacement of remote sensor equipment. The highway will be re-striped using Durastripe, a highly reflective, long-lasting polymer. It is more durable than the standard, water-based paint.

The contractor for this $6 million project is Poe Asphalt Paving Inc. of Post Falls. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July.
