Wildfire prompts closure of U.S. 20 in eastern Idaho
RIGBY - A wildfire this afternoon forced closure of a section of U.S. 20 between the Idaho National Laboratory and Idaho Falls, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The INL Fire Department and Bureau of Land Management crews are battling the fire that is burning about 300 acres of brush and grass. No estimate is available for reopening the highway.
For current information on the highway closure, visit the Idaho Traveler Services Web site at 511.idaho.gov or dial 5-1-1.
Fire agencies urge motorists traveling throughout Idaho to use extreme caution because high temperatures and low humidity are combining to increase the potential for wildfires.
