Transportation funding conference begins; public invited to tonight's meeting

Idaho Gov. C.L. Butch Otter and the Idaho Transportation Department today began a series of statewide meetings Building Roads, Building Bridges, Building Consensus to ask the public how best to pay for repairing, maintaining and improving the state's deteriorating infrastructure.
Gov. Otter will discuss the revenue challenge at 4:15 p.m. today during the first hour of a three-hour public meeting to gather input from citizens. Today's conference concludes at 7 p.m. in the Simplot Dining Hall's Fireside Room at the College of Idaho in Caldwell.
Today's conference began at 9 a.m. The governor's staff and transportation department officials will meet with area legislators and other local elected officials, business and industry leaders and local highway district representatives as well as the public.
The governor's office and ITD ask you to help inform the public of tonight's meeting and encourage citizens to learn about and give their suggestions on revenue options. Each of the three hours will begin with a short presentation.
