Seal coat project to restrict travel on U.S. 30, Idaho 50 east of Twin Falls
TWIN FALLS - Speed restrictions and loose gravel will slow traffic on U.S. 30 and Idaho 50 east of Twin Falls beginning Monday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
A seal coat project on Kimberly Road (U.S. 30) from Hankins Road to Red Cap Corner (3200 East to 3500 East) and on Idaho 50 from Red Cap Corner to Interstate 84 will restrict the speed of drivers with lane closures and loose gravel. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 miles-per-hour through the construction zone. Lane restrictions will be in effect during working hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday Aug. 18. Speed restrictions will remain in place until striping of the project is finished.
U.S. 30 will be reduced to one lane in either direction while crews perform the task of coating the roadway with rubberized oil and rock chips. Idaho 50 from 3500 East to Interstate 84 will be reduced to one lane and a pilot car will be used to shuttle traffic through the work zone. Following posted speed limits will reduce the risk of windshield damage caused by the loose gravel.
Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible. Drivers should use caution when approaching the work zone and follow all temporary speed limits and lane closure signs. Watch for crew members and equipment when present in the work zone. ITD appreciates the patience and cooperation of those driving through the work zone. ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
