Pavement markings on Interstate 90 will be repainted beginning Tuesday (Sept. 2)
COEUR D'ALENE - Contractor's crews will begin restoring the pavement markings on Interstate 90 east of Coeur d'Alene after the Labor Day weekend beginning Tuesday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Work on east- and westbound lanes will take place Sept. 2 - 9, from milepost 14 (Sherman Avenue exit) to Lookout Pass at the Idaho/Montana state line.

Crews will first paint the solid white and yellow lines starting in the westbound lanes from Lookout Pass and repeat the process in the eastbound lanes. The centerline skip marks will then be repainted. The contractor is using an epoxy-based paint that is more durable and longer-lasting than water-based paint.

The interstate speed limit will not be lowered, but motorists are urged to drive with caution through the work areas.

The contractor for this $363,000 project is Specialized Pavement Markings of Tualatin, Ore.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
