Westbound I-84 on-ramp at Meridian Interchange remains closed through early afternoon
BOISE - The westbound I-84 on-ramp at the Meridian Interchange remains closed at this hour, and is expected to re-open in early afternoon, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. During the closure, local traffic is being detoured to the Eagle Interchange westbound on-ramp and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Crews are finished paving, striping the new road, and setting guardrail. Minor complications in the work have delayed the opening this morning.
This work is part of the traffic shift that went into effect last night on I-84 in the 3.5-mile stretch of highway between the Locust Grove and Black Cat overpasses.
The transportation department reminds motorists to use extra caution while traveling the area. The lane shift will be in effect for two to three months while crews rebuild existing westbound lanes as part of the Garrity to Meridian widening project on I-84. The reconstructed lanes will be open to traffic in late fall.
Nighttime lane closures on I-84 will continue through September. At least one lane of traffic in each direction is typically open between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
