Guardrail project to reduce lanes on Interstate 90 beginning today (Monday, Sept. 15)
COEUR d'ALENE - Interstate 90 between Coeur d'Alene and the Idaho-Washington line will be reduced to a single lane in both directions while guardrail on a number of bridges is painted, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will begin painting the guardrail tonight (Monday, Sept. 15) between the state line and Sherman Avenue (Exit 15).
Public convenience is a major factor in planning interstate construction projects. Work will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Wednesday (Sept. 17) at the following locations:
- Tonight (Monday): West- and eastbound lanes at the Huetter, Atlas and Union Pacific Railroad bridges
- Tuesday (Sept. 16): West- and eastbound lanes at Idaho 41 Interchange
- Wednesday (Sept. 17): Any additional cleanup work at these locations
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
The contractor for this $6 million resurfacing project is Poe Asphalt Paving Inc., of Post Falls. The guardrail replacement is the final step in the project.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
