WEISER - With the onset of duck hunting season, boaters and hunters are asked to exercise caution near the Snake River bridge renovation project at the U.S. 95 Spur in Weiser, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Boaters should use extreme caution if they need to pass under the bridge; a cable spans the river and presents a hazard Buoys have been placed in the water to warn and direct boaters.
Hunting season for duck (including merganser), goose, snipe, and coot opens for two days, Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 27 and 28), to hunters 15 and younger. Open season is Oct. 11 through January 23.
The bridge connecting Annex, Ore. to Weiser is being replaced with a wider structure in a project that began in February and will be completed in the fall of 2009. Construction crews poured the new deck for the bridge in mid-September and in coming weeks will be forming curb and gutter, sidewalks and a decorative concrete railing.
