Traffic signal on Idaho 16 at Substation Road to become fully operational

BOISE - A new traffic signal on Idaho 16 at Substation Road near Emmett will soon be fully operational, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Construction of the signal was completed in November, and it has been operating in flashing-yellow mode.

Work will begin on Monday (Feb. 7) to modify the traffic signal. The modifications are expected to take approximately two weeks. The work is scheduled to avoid peak commute times (6 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays). During non-peak hours, motorists may encounter intermittent traffic restrictions.

Work crews will replace several signal heads, modify wiring, replace signs approaching the intersection and add pedestrian crosswalks.

The project includes an additional eastbound truck acceleration lane east of the intersection.
