Sign upgrades on I-84 and Connector begin tonight (Monday, Sept. 22)
BOISE - Installation of upgraded signs on Interstate 84, the Connector (I-184) and U.S. 20/26 in Boise will lead to temporary lane closures beginning tonight (Monday, Sept. 22) and continuing through next Monday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The temporary lane closures will take place as crews mount new road signs, replacing aging and damaged signs. All work will be performed at night, avoiding the heaviest periods of traffic.
Crews will work on the Connector primarily near the Fairview Avenue exits, near the Chinden Bridge and near the intersections with Front and River streets on both inbound and outbound lanes. Upgraded signs also will be placed near Caldwell at exit 27.
Drivers are urged to be cautious when driving through the work zones and to watch for installation crews and equipment when present. Follow all temporary traffic control devices.
Specialty Construction of Boise will install the signs.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
