Sign upgrades on I-84, Connector, U.S. 20/26 delayed
BOISE - The installation of upgraded signs on Interstate 84, the Connector (I-184) and U.S. 20/26 in Boise has been delayed by one week, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The work was to have begun last night, but instead will not begin until this coming Monday (Sept. 29). All work will be completed at night (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) to avoid heavy traffic.
The schedule has been changed by the contractor, Specialty Construction of Boise, due to delays on other work.
The upgraded signs will be placed on the Connector primarily near the Fairview Avenue exits, near the Chinden Boulevard Bridge and near the intersections with Front and River streets on both inbound and outbound lanes. Upgraded signs also will be placed near Caldwell at exit 27.
Drivers are urged to be cautious when driving through the work zones and to watch for installation crews and equipment when present. Follow all temporary traffic control devices.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
