Lane closure on eastbound Connector to be removed for two weeks starting Monday (Oct. 13)
BOISE - The lane closure on the eastbound Connector (I-184) near the Chinden Boulevard Bridge will be removed for two weeks beginning Monday (Oct. 13) to allow for normal traffic flows, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The left lane will be opened to normal traffic as the new concrete foundations for an over-the-roadway signpost are allowed to cure. All barriers will be moved to the shoulder.

The work to replace the signpost started Oct. 5. The lane closure has been necessary for the safety of motorists traveling near the construction site and crew members within the work zone.

The lane closure will be reinstated the week of Oct. 27 as the new T-pole sign is installed and additional concrete work is performed. The lane closure is expected to be removed again by Oct. 31.

The inside median shoulder in the westbound lanes also will be closed during the installation of the new sign.

The lane closure was originally expected to last about a month but a change order was made to permit the contractor, Specialty Construction of Boise, to open the lane. Short-term lane restrictions may occur through Nov. 7, but will not be allowed during peak-hour traffic periods.

Drivers are urged to use caution when driving through the construction zone and watch for workers and equipment.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
