Transportation department hosts Idaho 55, U.S. 95 workshops
BOISE - Two identical workshops will be held at Meadows-Valley School (500 N. Miller St.) in New Meadows on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

At the workshops, participants will have an opportunity to help identify needed improvements to Idaho 55 and U.S. 95 as part of two corridor studies:
  •     Idaho 55 between New Meadows and the Idaho/Oregon/Nevada junction west of Marsing.
  •     U.S. 95 between Pinehurst and the Adams/Idaho county line and the Idaho border in Owyhee County.
The workshops will focus on Idaho 55 and U.S. 95 in Valley and Adams counties. The completed corridor studies will include an analysis of existing conditions of the highway, a forecast of future demand over the next 20 years, and a list of short and long-term improvements.

As part of each study, ITD will analyze safety, traffic, access management, and environmental issues corridor-wide and county-by-county. Communities along Idaho 55 and U.S. 95 have varying needs. The studies will be based on community input, engineering analysis, and city, county, and agency planning goals.

ITD will be conducting similar workshops in McCall (Idaho 55 only) and Council (U.S. 95 only) and other communities along Idaho 55 and U.S. 95. For more information, visit www.itd.idaho.gov and click on Projects, Southwest Idaho, then Idaho 55 Corridor Study or U.S. 95 Corridor Study.
