ITD plans Nov. 6 meeting to discuss Idaho 162 project in Nezperce
LEWISTON - Plans to add new curb and gutter to Idaho 162 in downtown Nezperce will be discussed during a Nov. 6 public meeting at the Nezperce Senior Center, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The meeting will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The project will include new curb and gutter, beginning at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street and concluding at Oak Street and Sixth Avenue. A planter strip will be built between the new curb and gutter, the existing city sanitary sewer line will be replaced, and a new storm sewer system will be added.

Handicap ramps will be added at intersections to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Parking on the main street will be converted from diagonal to parallel to improve safety.

Construction is scheduled to begin next spring and be completed by the end of the summer.  The project uses a combination of state and federal funds administered by ITD. The city's sanitary sewer project is federally funded. Total cost of the project, excluding sanitary sewer construction, is about $1.1 million.

Nezperce residents and business owners/operators will have an opportunity to view the proposed construction plans and learn how traffic will be detoured during construction. Comments will be accepted during the public meeting.

For information about the public meeting, contact Curtis Arnzen District 2 project development engineer at (208) 799-5090.
