Daytime traffic delays expected Tuesday (Nov. 25) at the Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa
BOISE - Traffic signals will be turned off and flaggers will direct traffic on the Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa during the day Tuesday (Nov. 25), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Motorists should expect to be delayed for at least five minutes.
The traffic delays will allow crews to haul bridge girders into the work zone for the I-84, Franklin Boulevard Bridge project.
Single-lane closures on I-84 will continue through the end of the month. Lane closures occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. weekdays and until 7 a.m. on weekends. The I-84 speed limit is 55 mph.
Traffic on the Franklin Boulevard Bridge is restricted to one lane in each direction. The speed limit on Franklin Boulevard is 25 mph.
Concrete Placing Company Inc. is the contractor for the $3.1 million Franklin Boulevard Interchange Bridge reconstruction.
The project will reconstruct the east half of the bridge built in 1965 to match the west half built in 1999. Reconstruction also will allow future additional lanes on I-84. Work on the bridge began in late summer of 2008 and is expected to be complete in the summer of 2009.
This project is part of a series of interstate improvements planned for I-84 between Caldwell and Meridian through the GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
