Public invited to offer suggestions on U.S. 95 at Tuesday meeting
BOISE - Two identical public workshops will be held at the Homedale Senior Center (224 W. Idaho Ave.) Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Participants will have an opportunity to identify needed improvements to U.S. 95 as part of a corridor study. Workshops will focus on the roadway in Owyhee County. The study limits extend from Pinehurst at the Adams/Idaho county line to Idaho's border with Oregon in Owyhee County.

The study will result in a plan that will guide policies and projects important to the development of this major highway over the next 20 years.

As part of the study, the transportation department will analyze safety, traffic, access management, and environmental issues corridor-wide and county-by-county. The study will be based on community input, engineering analysis, and city, county and agency planning goals.

U.S. 95 provides an important north-south route to long-haul trucks between Mexico and Canada. Recreational and local traffic share the road with international freight trucks, straining the roadway.

The transportation department is conducting workshops in each county along U.S. 95.
