I-84 eastbound lanes between Nampa and Meridian shifted Friday (Dec. 12)
BOISE - Eastbound traffic on I-84 between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges will be shifted onto the new lanes in the center Friday night (Dec. 12), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The I-84 eastbound lane shift will be in effect until early summer 2009 while crews reconstruct the old eastbound lanes between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges.
The eastbound off-ramp at the Meridian Interchange will be closed overnight Friday (Dec. 12) and Saturday (Dec. 13) from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting. The ramp closure will allow crews to tie the ramp into the lane shift. Local traffic will be detoured to the Eagle Interchange westbound off-ramp. The ramp is anticipated to open by 7 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 14).
At least one lane of traffic in each direction on I-84 is open between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays and between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Two lanes in each direction are open during the day.
The I-84 speed limit is 55 mph and the shoulders are restricted between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges.
The work is part of the Garrity to Meridian project, which will result in six lanes on I-84 and a median barrier between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges. The project is estimated to cost $113 million. It is expected to be complete in 2010.
The project is part of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
