Southbound Meridian Road motorists will lose I-84 eastbound access via loop ramp overnight tonight (Friday, Dec. 12)
BOISE - Motorists traveling south on Meridian Road cannot access eastbound I-84 via the loop ramp at the interchange overnight tonight (Friday, Dec. 12) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The loop ramp will be closed temporarily as part of construction on I-84.

Signs on southbound Meridian Road will direct traffic to take Franklin Road or Overland Road to access eastbound I-84 at the Eagle Interchange.

Motorists traveling north on Meridian Road can still access eastbound I-84 from the other on-ramp. All westbound ramps will remain open.

A traffic shift occurred Thursday night on eastbound I-84 to advance work on the Garrity to Meridian reconstruction project. The reconfigured loop ramp will tie into the shifted lanes.

The eastbound off-ramp at the Meridian Interchange also will be closed from Thursday night to Saturday as part of the traffic shift.

The I-84, Garrity to Meridian project will result in six lanes on I-84 and a median barrier between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges in 2010. The project is estimated to cost $113 million.

The project is part of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
