I-84 remains closed from Utah line to junction with I-86
RUPERT - Interstate 84 remains closed from its junction with I-86 east of Rupert to the Utah state line, the Idaho Transportation Department announced Monday evening.
Steady winds in the afternoon caused low visibility, and snowdrifts made the route impassable. ITD maintenance crews reported that numerous vehicles, including semi-trucks and trailers, had gotten stuck along the highway before it was closed.
The interstate is expected to remain closed through tonight. The alternate route is Interstate 15 from Tremonton, Utah, to Pocatello and then to I-86 across southern Idaho.
Travelers are advised to check the 511 Traveler Services system on the Web at 511.idaho.gov or dial 511 for the latest highway conditions.
