Seal coat project on I-90 near Cataldo to begin Monday

COUER d'ALENE - A project to seal coat eight miles of Interstate 90 from Cedars to Cataldo will begin Monday (Aug. 1), creating minimal delays for motorists, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will place a layer of rock chips and oil on the asphalt to prolong its durability, extend its life and provide better traction and skid resistance for motorists. This segment of interstate was resurfaced with new asphalt last summer.

The segment of the interstate between mileposts 32 and 40 will be reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions during the project. Flaggers will direct traffic through the workzone. The project is expected to be completed by Friday (Aug. 5).

ConMat Construction Inc., of Hayden Lake, is the contractor on the $411,000 project.
