Overnight delays expected on I-84 next week at Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa
BOISE - Motorists can expect traffic delays on I-84 from Sunday through Wednesday (Jan. 25-28) near the Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa. The Idaho Transportation Department is working on the new bridge deck.
Weather permitting, overnight on Sunday and Monday, eastbound I-84 will be closed under the Franklin Boulevard Bridge. Overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday, westbound I-84 will be closed under the bridge. Closures will begin at 10 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. the following morning.
Each night, traffic will exit and re-enter I-84 using the on- and off-ramps at the Franklin Boulevard Interchange. Flaggers will direct traffic.
The Franklin Boulevard Bridge project is expected to be complete in summer of 2009 and will allow future widening on I-84.
Concrete Placing Company Inc. of Boise is the contractor for this $3.1 million project.
Improvements to I-84 between Franklin and Garrity will depend on future funding through the GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
