Bicycle and Pedestrian mobility discussions shift to Lewiston, Moscow on Tuesday
BOISE - Bicycle and pedestrian mobility discussions will be held Tuesday (Jan. 27) in Lewiston and Moscow to support an ongoing statewide survey, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Responses will help identify a preferred vision for non-motorized mobility statewide, according to Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Mark McNeese. Individuals interested in impacting the future of bicycle and pedestrian mobility are invited to participate in the discussions and help formulate a local-, regional-, and state-level plan.
"Once we get the vision in place, then we'll start working on the building blocks that will need to exist to get it done," said McNeese. The picture we envision and then proceed to paint will be inherited by our children, so we need to make sure we get it right."
Tuesday's forum will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Community Center Multi-Purpose Room, 1424 Main St. An afternoon session will be held in Moscow. The exact time and location are yet to be determined. The discussions will be held in an open-house style forum, meaning that attendance for the entire block of time is not necessary.
Similar discussions are planned in Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene later in the week. Meetings were held in Idaho Falls, Driggs and Pocatello on Jan. 22-23.
"Some great ideas came from those meetings," said McNeese. "I was able to gather input that will be vital to the process as we move forward."
An online survey went live on Dec. 29 and will be active through the end of January. More than 1,870 survey responses throughout the state have been received thus far.
The 15-20 minute survey can be accessed at http://itd.idaho.gov/planning/bike/2008PlanSurvey.html
