Bicycle and pedestrian mobility talks head to Coeur d'Alene
BOISE - The next stop for a series of bicycle and pedestrian mobility discussion will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Coeur d'Alene on Thursday (Jan. 29). The sessions are being held statewide in support of an ongoing statewide survey, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The session will be held at the City Hall Old Council Chambers, 701 E. Mullan, Second Floor. It will be held in an open-house style forum; attendance for the entire block of time is not necessary.

Responses will help identify a preferred vision for non-motorized mobility statewide, according to Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Mark McNeese. Individuals interested in impacting the future of bicycle and pedestrian mobility are invited to participate in the discussions and help formulate a local-, regional-, and state-level plan.

"Once we get the vision in place, then we'll start working on the building blocks that will need to exist to get it done," said McNeese. The picture we envision and then proceed to paint will be inherited by our children, so we need to make sure we get it right."

Similar discussions were held in Idaho Falls, Driggs and Pocatello Jan. 22-23, and in Lewiston and Moscow Jan. 26.

"Some great ideas came from those meetings," said McNeese. "I was able to gather input that will be vital to the process as we move forward."

An online survey went live on Dec. 29 and will be active through the end of January. More than 1,875 survey responses throughout the state have been received thus far.
