Overnight lane restrictions planned for westbound I-84 tonight and Friday night east of Garrity Interchange
BOISE - Motorists traveling westbound I-84 to Nampa's Garrity Interchange should expect brief lane restrictions Thursday and Friday nights (Jan. 29-30), as the Idaho Transportation Department repairs potholes in the old pavement.
One lane will be closed between the Garrity Interchange and Ten Mile Overpass overnight each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Two lanes of traffic will be open during daytime hours.
The repair is part of a larger project to rebuild the interstate from Garrity to Meridian and add a third lane in both directions. The project is expected to be complete in 2010.
It is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
