Overnight lane restrictions on Meridian Road Overpass will start Saturday night (Feb. 7)
BOISE - Meridian Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at night on the I-84 overpass starting Saturday night through the following Saturday (Feb. 7-14). The Idaho Transportation Department is modifying part of the interchange in preparation for widening the interstate.
Lane restrictions on the overpass will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work will allow the interchange to accommodate another lane on I-84.
The work is part of a larger project to widen I-84 from Garrity to Meridian. The project is expected to be complete in 2010.
It is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
