Public comment sought on Idaho 44 Corridor Study
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) are hosting two open houses the week of Feb. 9 to gather public input on Idaho 44.

The Idaho 44 Corridor Preservation Study is a partnership between ITD and COMPASS. The study area is between Ballantyne Lane in Eagle and Interstate 84 in Caldwell.

The open houses will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and Thursday, Feb. 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each evening. The Feb. 11 open house will be at Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane in Eagle. The Feb. 12 open house will be at Middleton Fine Arts, 115 W. Main Street in Middleton.

The transportation department and COMPASS are seeking comment from the public, local elected officials, agencies and city planners on:
  • Potential options for the highway
  • Criteria for evaluating options
  • The corridor study's next steps
Idaho 44 connects Ada and Canyon counties and is one of only three east/west highways carrying traffic between Boise and Caldwell. Land along the highway is being developed at a rapid rate. The purpose of the study is to ensure that Idaho 44 remains a vital and functional east/west connection.

For information about this study or to provide comments, please visit the Internet at: www.itd.idaho.gov, click on Projects, Southwest Idaho, then Idaho 44 Corridor Preservation Study under the Corridor Studies section.
