Overnight traffic delays expected Tuesday night on Franklin Boulevard Bridge in Nampa
BOISE - Motorists should expect traffic delays Tuesday night (Feb. 17) on the Franklin Boulevard Bridge over I-84 in Nampa. Weather permitting, the Idaho Transportation Department will switch traffic onto new lanes on the reconstructed bridge that night.

Flaggers will direct traffic between 7 p.m. Tuesday night and 5 a.m. Wednesday morning during the switch. One lane will remain open in each direction on the bridge.

The switch is part of a project to reconstruct the east half of the bridge, built in 1965, to match the west half built in 1999. The reconstructed bridge will accommodate future lanes on I-84 between the Franklin and Garrity interchanges.

Concrete Placing Company Inc. of Boise is the contractor for this $3.1 million project. It is expected to be completed this summer.

Improvements to I-84 between Franklin and Garrity will depend on future funding through the GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
