UPDATE: Overnight Lane restrictions at Meridian Road overpass will resume Sunday through Tuesday
BOISE - Overnight traffic restrictions on the Meridian Road overpass scheduled for this week have been halted to accommodate the 2009 Special Olympics Idaho World Winter Games, and will resume Sunday and extend through Tuesday (Feb. 15-17), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Lane restrictions on the overpass will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. This work will allow the interchange to accommodate another lane on I-84.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at night on the overpass.

The work is part of a larger project to widen I-84 from Garrity to Meridian. The project is expected to be complete in 2010.

It is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
