Expect overnight restrictions on I-84 east of Garrity Interchange Saturday-Tuesday
BOISE - Motorists can expect restrictions as eastbound I-84 is reduced to one lane near the Garrity Interchange Saturday through Tuesday (Feb. 21-24) overnight. Crews for the Idaho Transportation Department are working in the median as part of interstate widening.
In addition, westbound I-84 will be restricted to one lane on Saturday night (Feb. 21) to complete striping.
The inside lane will be closed between the Robinson Boulevard and Black Cat Road bridges from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following morning.
Two lanes of traffic will be open during daytime hours.
The work is part of a larger project to rebuild the interstate from Garrity to Meridian and add a third lane in both directions. The project is expected to be complete in 2010.
This project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for driving information on the state highway or interstate system.
