Weight and speed restrictions to be placed on state highways in Bonner County beginning March 1
COEUR D'ALENE - U.S. 2, Idaho 200 and Idaho 57 in Bonner County will have speed and weight restrictions in place beginning Sunday (March 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.  The highways are beginning to show stress from a severe freeze/thaw cycle in recent weeks.

The following restrictions will be in place until further notice:
  •  U.S. 2, Milepost 0.0 (Washington State Line) to Milepost 28.5 (Pine Street in Sandpoint)
  •  Idaho 200, Milepost 29.7 (Jct. U.S. 95) to Milepost 63.1 (Montana State Line)
  •  Idaho 57, Milepost 0.0 (Jct. U.S. 2) to Milepost 37.2 (full length of highway)
Speed limits will be reduced to 30 mph and vehicle weight to 14,000 lb. per axle or legal axle weights, whichever is less.  The weight and speed limit restrictions do not apply to emergency vehicles and school buses.
