Meetng planned near Lowell to explain U.S. 12 project
LEWISTON - The public and frequent travelers on U.S. 12 will have an opportunity to learn more about a major improvement project on the highway during public meeting Thursday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

ITD and prime contractor Knife River will discuss the U.S. 12 Syringa Creek to Tumble Creek project at a meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. at the U.S. Forest Services Fenn Ranger Station, just east of Lowell.

The $17 million project will begin at milepost 91, between Syringa and Lowell and end at milepost 114. Work will include shoulder widening, a pavement overlay, gabion retaining walls, pipe culverts and guardrail. Construction is expected to start this spring and will continue through this fall and perhaps into 2010.

Signs will provide directions to the ranger station located on Selway Road, which intersects U.S. 12 near milepost 97.
