State Highway 21 Closed in Both Directions due to Avalanches
BOISE - State Highway 21 remains closed today (Tuesday, Feb. 24) from Grandjean Junction to Banner Summit (mileposts 93 to 105.5) following avalanche activity late last night.
The Idaho Transportation Department's avalanche team recommended the closure of Canyon Creek Summit after several small slides ran on to the road during the afternoon and evening Monday (Feb. 23).
Temperatures are not expected to drop below freezing today, and the team will be evaluating conditions in the canyon and may reopen it later today.
