Highway 21 from Grandjean Junction to Banner Summit closes again due to weather
BOISE -- The Idaho Transportation Department has closed Canyon Creek for a second time this week, as extremely high precipitation rates and high winds tipped the scale.  Idaho 21 between Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit was closed at 11:22 a.m. this morning and will remain closed until the weather clears.

The avalanche-prone corridor was closed on Monday night (Feb. 23) at 11 p.m. and reopened late Tuesday afternoon around 5 p.m.  ITD avalanche crews are closely monitoring the popular recreation route to ensure the safety of motorists.

The Idaho Transportation Department encourages drivers to slow down and proceed cautiously through difficult driving situations, and to check 511 for the most up-to-date road conditions.  The service can be accessed by dialing 511 on the telephone, or checked on line at 51.idaho.gov.
