Sheep Creek Rest Area on U.S. 95 open after reconstruction
LEWISTON - After extensive reconstruction, the Sheep Creek Rest Area, about six miles south of Riggins on U.S. 95, is open for public use.
Reconstruction was substantially completed in late February, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Major remodeling included the addition of a family restroom and updating heating, electrical and plumbing systems.
The rest area serves motorists who travel Idaho's primary north-south highway and is one of the few public rest areas between Lewiston and Boise.
Temporary, portable toilets had been in use since the rest area renovation began in November.
Holcomb General Contracting Inc. of Grangeville was the general contractor for the $170,000 project.
